Information

Regardless of industry, questions around the stability of additive manufacturing processes continue to arise. With this in mind, GE Additive focused on stability and repeatability of part and material capability when developing the nickel-based superalloy Ni718 on the multi-laser M Line system. Through rigorous testing during the machine design, as well as extensive parameter development efforts, the M Line system has proven capability to produce stable results for material characteristics, such as porosity, and mechanical properties, such as tensile and fatigue. This includes evaluation of the entire build volume (500 mm x 500 mm x 400 mm) and single laser versus multi-laser (stitching) part capability. This presentation will summarize the results to date and discuss the impact for serialized production efforts.
