Information

AddiTec is a founding partner in Meltio and has a six-year heritage of in-depth background and experience in laser metal deposition (LMD). This presentation addresses Meltio’s multi-material LMD process in terms of technology, motion control, applications, and materials applied. This novel 3D printing process is based on feeding wire or powder, independently or simultaneously, although wire is preferred in most scenarios. This process can be used for both manufacturing and repair of metal components using single wire, dual wire, or wire and powder combinations. Further, mechanical properties of the fabricated metal components can be tailored using the dual wire option on Meltio’s systems. This LMD process is gaining attention in various sectors that can produce small to large scale components with low Buy-to-Fly ratios (B:F) at high build rates, low costs, and with reductions in lead times. The potential advantages of this process for production of structures in aerospace, automobile, space, oil and gas, and marine engineering fields will also be discussed.
